Frank Powell

Frank founded eventPower, formerly Technology Forums, in July of 1996. He has over 25 years of experience in the conference and trade show industry. He started his career in 1990 with National Trade Productions working on FOSE, which at the time was the largest IT conference for the Federal Government. In 1994 Frank moved to IT Direct as Director of Conferences. IT Direct produced over 160 conferences annually.

Frank’s vision for eventPower is to hire an extremely skilled team of meeting planning professionals who bring exceptional customer service to its family of clients. Throughout the past 17 years, Frank has lead the eventPower team in the production of thousands of conferences. The company initially focused on the government sector and has since expanded to include associations, corporate, independent show producers and third party meeting planners.

As the owner of the company, Frank looks forward to taking a personal stake in ensuring the efficiency and success of your conference, meeting or exposition.

Laurie Powell
Vice President, New Business Development

Laurie has over 25 years of sales and management experience in both events and publishing. She started her career at Miller Freeman which was the largest business to business publisher and trade show producer. At Miller Freeman, Laurie was Publisher and Director of Sales of various trade magazines and events. In 2001, Laurie followed the CEO of Miller Freeman to Access Intelligence, another publisher and trade show producer. There she served as a Group Publisher of several magazines, websites and events. In 2010, Laurie joined eventPower as Vice President of Sales.

Michael McCarthy
Vice President, Information Technology

Michael has been supporting eventPower since 2009 developing and implementing leading-edge technology solutions for conferences and events. Prior to eventPower, Michael worked at CACI where he honed engineering and project management skills working on projects including software engineering and development of an enterprise financial management platform, information management across satellite and terrestrial communication systems, and complex database systems.

Sharla Warren
CMP, Vice President, Conference Services

Sharla has 17 years of conference management experience and has been part of the eventPower team since 2000. Sharla leads the Conference Services Department where her team is in charge of managing all client relationships. In addition to commercial and association clients, she has managed numerous government contracts.

Prior to eventPower, Sharla worked at Cohn Communications , where she planned and sold exhibit space for PMEXPO, the largest one-day property management and real estate trade show in the nation. Sharla also supported event planning for the Property Management Association (PMA) and the Washington Area Council of Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (WACEL). She managed membership recruitment and retention and exhibited at trade shows promoting the PMA brand. Sharla also worked as the Administrator (Director) for the National Society Children of the American Revolution (N.S.C.A.R.).

Sharla is a Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) and is a member of MPI and SGMP.
